NY Fashion Week, Day 2

It's only day two, and New York Fashion Week is in full force.   Creative director of Kate Spade, Deborah Lloyd, showed a collection based on travel to luxurious destinations on "The Continent", particularly Paris, Capri, and Monaco.  Also caught by the travel bug, Rebecca Minkoff presented a collection inspired by strong Latin American women, full of vibrant textures, colors, and patterns.  Rag & Bone's collection was very nineties-minimalistic yet also wearable, especially a pale blush leather jacket (which I particularly favor).  Jason Wu's Spring 2014 collection continued the minimalistic vibe and was mostly neutral in color, with a pop of pastel every now and then; a finale gown in dove gray (donned by super model Karlie Kloss) is quite capturing.

Put Your Best Boot Forward

One of the things that excites me most about Fall (beside pumpkin spice lattes) are boots.  The riding boot continues to be a favorite of  many (myself included) and looks great over jeans or leggings.  Booties are a fun alternative to heels or flats and can  be paired with a dress or skirt.  Check out a few of my favorite styles below:

Sam Edelman "Penny" Boot- $169.95 at Nordstrom

Franco Sarto "Radelle" Bootie- $99.95 at Nordstrom

Remeber how popular this trend was in the early 2000's?  As one of the despearte wannabes said in "Mean Girls,"  "I saw Cady Heron wearing army pants and flip flops, so I bought army pants and flip flops."  So buy some army pants, fur vest,  dress, or.. you get the picture.

The New Miss Wu

Jason Wu recently introduced his more affordable line, Miss Wu, for the younger (and poorer) set.  The collection is still definitively Jason Wu, just with a little more whimsy and shorter hemlines.

Welcome to the Sixties!: Michael Kors' Pre Fall 2013 Collection

Many of the looks in Michael Kors' Pre-Fall 2013 Collection could have come straight out of  The Help.  Accesorized with matchy-matchy cat eye sunglasses, elbow length gloves, and pumps, this collection is sure to satisfy any nostalgic sartorialist.

White Christmas

Lately, celebrities have been donning head-to-toe white on the red carpet and at other fashionable events. The elegant, minimalist look was popularized by Gwyneth Paltrow at the Oscars in February.  Check out the snow white ensembles below:
