London Fashion Week, Part 1

London Fashion Week so far has been quite amazing.  Digital prints are all over the runways as well as 3d floral touches, as with Matthew Williamson, Temperley London, and John Rocha.   Duchess Kate is sure to be outfitted by the majority of the Spring Temperley London collection while gorgeous digital prints at House of Holland and Mary Katrantzou are likely to be imitated by fast fashion shops all over the world.  London continues to be my favorite fashion capital and the following images can atest to that!

New York Fashion Week Wraps Up

New York Fashion Week ended with some pretty spectatcular collections by iconic American designers.  Jenny Packham showed sleek evening gowns with intricate details.  Oscar de la Renta's Spring collection was ornate as usual with rich colors and textures.  Marc Jacob's Victorian influenced collection had a gothic romantic feel while Ralph Lauren showed bright colors in minimalistic silhouettes inspired by the mod 1960s.

NY Fashion Week- Days 3-5

While the trend so far this fashion week has been soooo '90s, some designers have chosen to stick to their trademark looks while adding a nod here and there to the current trends.  Two examples below include a two piece ball gown with a bandeau top from Monique Lhuillier and a ballerina skirt with a crop top from Alice + Olivia.  I admire designers who do not conform completely to the current trends and fads but still create something that is definitively theirs.  Below are some of my favorite looks to come through these past few days at fashion week:

Lela Rose continues to create beautiful designs out of luxurious fabrics

Zac Posen continues to stun us with beautifully structured gowns

Monique Lhuillier's delightful collection of coral and pink impressed many, particularly a two piece ballgown with a bandeau top

A unique, colorful, and feminine hoop-skirted gown from Delpozo

Alice + Olivia's collection was playful, girly, and ultra feminie.  A standout piece was a floor-length  blush lace dress with a bustier top and A-line skirt

NY Fashion Week, Day 2

It's only day two, and New York Fashion Week is in full force.   Creative director of Kate Spade, Deborah Lloyd, showed a collection based on travel to luxurious destinations on "The Continent", particularly Paris, Capri, and Monaco.  Also caught by the travel bug, Rebecca Minkoff presented a collection inspired by strong Latin American women, full of vibrant textures, colors, and patterns.  Rag & Bone's collection was very nineties-minimalistic yet also wearable, especially a pale blush leather jacket (which I particularly favor).  Jason Wu's Spring 2014 collection continued the minimalistic vibe and was mostly neutral in color, with a pop of pastel every now and then; a finale gown in dove gray (donned by super model Karlie Kloss) is quite capturing.

Put Your Best Boot Forward

One of the things that excites me most about Fall (beside pumpkin spice lattes) are boots.  The riding boot continues to be a favorite of  many (myself included) and looks great over jeans or leggings.  Booties are a fun alternative to heels or flats and can  be paired with a dress or skirt.  Check out a few of my favorite styles below:

Sam Edelman "Penny" Boot- $169.95 at Nordstrom
