The New Miss Wu

Jason Wu recently introduced his more affordable line, Miss Wu, for the younger (and poorer) set.  The collection is still definitively Jason Wu, just with a little more whimsy and shorter hemlines.

Welcome to the Sixties!: Michael Kors' Pre Fall 2013 Collection

Many of the looks in Michael Kors' Pre-Fall 2013 Collection could have come straight out of  The Help.  Accesorized with matchy-matchy cat eye sunglasses, elbow length gloves, and pumps, this collection is sure to satisfy any nostalgic sartorialist.

White Christmas

Lately, celebrities have been donning head-to-toe white on the red carpet and at other fashionable events. The elegant, minimalist look was popularized by Gwyneth Paltrow at the Oscars in February.  Check out the snow white ensembles below:

Paris Fashion Week Says "Aurevoir"

Alas, Paris Fashion week has come to a close as Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, and Ellie Saab all presented their Spring 2013 Collections.

For Louis Vuitton Spring 2013 Ready-to-Wear, Marc Jacobs took an equally minimalistic approach as he did with his own namesake collection during New York Fashion Week.  The 1960s was an obvious influence on this collection, especially the colors and checkerboard print present on the clothing, shoes, and handbags. Models arrived and exited on escalators displaying three different skirt lengths seen in the 1960s: the mini, the midi, and the maxi.

Miuccia Prada's Miu Miu's Spring 2013 Collection was luxurious and glamorous, with soft silks, Old Hollywood fur coats and stoles, satin shoes, ladylike leather gloves, and patent leather skirts and coats.

Ellie Saab presented a vibrant collection full of a kaleidoscope of colors complete with his trademark sparkly evening dresses.

Paris Fashion Week Highlights, Part 2

Karl Lagerfeld's Spring 2013 Chanel collection had an eco-conscious geometric vs. organic theme with structured jackets shown alongside floral chiffon dresses.  As a part of the always grand Chanel set, giant wind mills were scattered down the runway and the sustainability theme was carried out in the collection, particularly with a metallic blue grid dress resembling solar panels.

A primary-hued quilted bag was one of my favorite accessories in the collection

The soon to become famous Chanel "beach bag"

Since designing Kate Middleton's wedding dress, Sarah Burton has become a household name and  has maintained the legacy of the late Alexander McQueen while bringing in her own distinctive style to the brand.  In her latest collection, everyone was "abuzz" over her bee-themed collection which carried over quite literally in all the looks with "honeycomb" embellished peplum tops, pants, and Scarlett-O'hara worthy hoop skirts.

Opposites Attract at Dries Van Noten

On day two of Paris Fashion Week, Dries Van Noten paired plaids and florals together, and did so brilliantly.  A sort of softer grunge was exhibited in this collection, with the mash up of two patterns normally reserved for opposite seasons.  Van Noten used nontraditional fabrics such as taffeta, lamé, and organza for the plaids to make them appear more luxurious and lightweight than the typical wool or flannel reserved for the cold-weather print.

Milano Fashion Week, Day 2

Today, two of Milan's biggest fashion houses, Prada and Emporio Armani, each had a very young vibe on the runway, with a nod to the 90's (cue Prada's giant flower motif and high platform sandals and Emporio Armani's very Clueless-esque plaid mini skirt/short suits). However, this did not mean there weren't modern elements in each collection.  For example, Emporio Armani featured a blown-up pixilated print on shorts, dresses, and blouses.
